The backyard is but one of the provinces that belong to my empire. It is also one I rarely get to visit, so I ordered my humans to rectify this last week.
As it happened, this was my first tour since the Great Pruning left the trees nearly limbless. The catastrophe hit my furry and feathery subjects especially hard as it removed much of their perches and the cover that lulled them into a false sense of security. In turn, this affects me and my entertainment. A sad, nay, unacceptable state of affairs! To remedy the situation, I commanded that tall grass be planted for my hunting pleasure. This should happen any day now.
On my tour, I also noticed our flowers are starting to bloom. Specifically, we have some tall ones of the yellow persuasion, and I look forward to discovering if they taste as wonderful as they smell. Everything else appeared to be in order, but it was after my tour was complete that I discovered the presence of one field mouse. Before, I had never really understood why cats were always portrayed as obsessing over mice, thinking it a tired cliché. Now, I totally get it.
I look forward to my next visit, when I will hopefully become better acquainted with our new denizen.
